This is home. JC's is based right here in Macon — so when you call about a tree, you're calling somebody who lives under the same ones you do.
Macon sits right on the Fall Line, where the red clay of the Piedmont gives way to the sandier soil of the Coastal Plain — and that line runs straight through town. It's why the north side of Macon and the south side don't grow the same trees, and why a water oak that's rock solid in one neighborhood can be heaving its roots four miles away. Add the Ocmulgee running through the middle of it, three hundred and fifty thousand cherry trees, and some of the most beautiful old street canopy in Georgia, and you have a city defined by its trees as much as by anything else.
JC's Tree & Stump Removal is based right here in Macon. Not a franchise, not a call center in another state routing your job to whoever's cheapest — JC Henry started this business in January 2022 and runs the jobs himself. The man who comes out and gives you the price is the man running the saw. We're a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, and most of our work comes from people who used us once and called back.
Macon's older neighborhoods are where most of our removal work happens, and there's a reason for it. Intown, Vineville, Shirley Hills and Ingleside were planted heavily with water oaks and willow oaks eighty to a hundred years ago — and a water oak is a fast-growing, relatively short-lived tree that tends to start hollowing out from the inside around sixty to eighty years old. A great many of them reached that age at the same time. From the street they look magnificent. What you can't see from the ground is how much of the trunk is still solid wood.
Then there's the weather. Middle Georgia gets its share of straight-line winds out of summer thunderstorms, the occasional tornado, and the remnants of Gulf systems that still carry enough wind to put trees down when the ground is already saturated. Macon's clay holds water, and a few days of rain followed by a windy afternoon is the combination that takes out trees that stood through twenty years of worse. That's when the phone starts ringing at two in the morning, and why we answer it.
What people actually remember about us isn't the removal — it's what the yard looked like afterward. Read the Google reviews and the same thing comes up again and again: a job site left so clean you couldn't tell a tree had come down that morning. One customer had seven trees taken out and wrote that "it looked like there were never any trees there." That's the standard, it's the whole business, and it applies whether you've got one leaning pine in Shirley Hills or sixty dead cedars on a property line. Call or text JC at 478-972-8036 and send a photo of what you're looking at.

Dead, damaged, leaning or simply in the wrong place — taken down safely around homes, fences and drives.
24-hour response for trees down, split trunks and limbs hanging where they shouldn't be.
Stumps ground below grade so you can mow over it, plant on it, or finally use that corner of the yard.
Limbs off the roof, canopies thinned and shaped. Proper cuts — and we never top a tree.
Hangers, snapped tops and the mess a Middle Georgia storm leaves behind, cleared and hauled off.
Brush, fence lines and whole lots cleared for building, fencing or getting your property back.
Macon customers mention the same three things over and over: a fair price, hard work, and a yard you'd never know we'd been in. Here's what a few of them said.
"JC and his team took down 60 or so dead and dying eastern cedar trees between 30 and 50 feet tall. They cut, hauled and cleaned up all of the trees and under-brush in one day. I have used JC before and both times the work was excellent and his fees were very reasonable. He is my tree guy!!"

"JC and his crew did a great job getting the massive tree that fell during the storm. They were very helpful and worked hard to make sure myself and my neighbor were happy with the end results, and all of my property — trailers and fence — that were buried by the tree were protected while they worked. Will use JC's Tree Service again!"

Locally owned and operated out of Macon, Georgia — working across Bibb County and out into Jones, Monroe, Twiggs, Crawford, Houston and the surrounding Middle Georgia counties.
The questions Macon property owners ask us most before booking tree work.
Yes — JC's is locally owned and operated right here in Macon, and has been since January 2022. That's not a satellite office or a service area we drive to. It's where JC lives and where the trucks sit overnight, which is why we can get to a Macon call faster than anybody coming down from Atlanta.
A lot of Macon's street trees are water oaks and willow oaks planted in the same era. Water oaks grow fast and don't live especially long — they commonly start decaying from the inside somewhere around sixty to eighty years. Whole neighborhoods were planted at once, so whole neighborhoods are reaching that point together. A hollowing water oak can look completely healthy from the street.
Fast, because we're already here. We answer the phone 24 hours for trees down, split trunks and anything actively dangerous. After a big storm everybody calls at once and genuinely dangerous jobs go first — but JC will tell you honestly on the phone where you are in line instead of leaving you waiting on a truck.
We work all over Macon-Bibb and well beyond it. The soil does change as you move across town — heavier clay toward the north and west, sandier ground south and east — and it genuinely affects how trees root and how they fail. It's one of the things JC looks at when he's reading a lean.
It depends on the size of the tree, what's underneath it, and how much room the crew has to work. The same pine costs very differently in an open back yard versus wedged between a house and a fence in Intown. Free written estimate before anything starts, and that price is the price.
We clean up, and it's the thing our customers talk about most. Limbs, rounds, chips and debris all leave with us, and the yard gets raked. The job isn't finished when the tree is down — it's finished when you can't tell we were there.
