Red clay, rolling ground and some of the most heavily wooded country in Middle Georgia. Monroe County trees fail differently than the ones down south.
Forsyth has one of the prettiest courthouse squares in Georgia — the 1896 Monroe County Courthouse sitting in the middle with the old storefronts facing it on all four sides. The town has been the county seat since the 1820s, it sits right on the I-75 corridor roughly halfway between Macon and Atlanta, and Monroe County around it runs to High Falls, Juliette and a great deal of timber.
That last part is the thing that matters most for tree work. Monroe County is heavily wooded working country — planted pine, mixed hardwood, and a lot of rural acreage where the property line disappeared into the trees two decades ago. The jobs we get called for here skew differently from the ones in town: fence lines, pasture edges, driveway access, lots being opened up, and trees nobody thought about until one came down across something.
Forsyth also sits north of the Fall Line, and that single geological fact changes how trees behave here. This is Piedmont country — red clay and rolling ground, not the flat sandy soil of Houston and Peach counties forty minutes south. Clay holds water rather than draining it, so after a wet stretch the ground around a root plate goes heavy and soft while the tree above it still has to handle wind. Put that on a slope, which much of Monroe County is, and you get leaning trees and root heave in places where nobody expected a problem.
The I-75 corridor has brought steady growth, and a good deal of it has gone onto ground that was timber not long ago. A house built in a thinned pine stand inherits trees that grew up in a crowd — tall, slender, and with no wind-firmness of their own, because they spent forty years sheltered by neighbors that are now gone. Those are the ones that come down in the first few seasons after a lot is cleared, and it catches new owners completely by surprise.

"JC and his team took down 60 or so dead and dying eastern cedar trees between 30 and 50 feet tall. They cut, hauled and cleaned up all of the trees and under-brush in one day. I have used JC before and both times the work was excellent and his fees were very reasonable. He is my tree guy!!"

"JC and his crew did a great job getting the massive tree that fell during the storm. They were very helpful and worked hard to make sure myself and my neighbor were happy with the end results, and all of my property — trailers and fence — that were buried by the tree were protected while they worked. Will use JC's Tree Service again!"

What Forsyth and Monroe County property owners ask us most.
Regularly. We're based in Macon, about twenty-five minutes down I-75, and Monroe County is normal working ground for us — Forsyth, Smarr, Bolingbroke and out toward Juliette. Call with the address and you'll get a straight answer on scheduling.
Forsyth sits north of the Fall Line, which puts you in Piedmont red clay rather than the sandy soil south of Macon. Clay holds water instead of draining it, so after a wet stretch the soil around a root plate stays heavy and soft while the tree still has to carry wind load. On the rolling ground around Monroe County that's a recipe for leaning trees and root heave.
Because those pines grew up in a crowd. Trees in a dense stand shelter each other from wind and never develop much trunk taper or wind-firmness of their own. Thin that stand to build, and the ones left standing are suddenly exposed in a way they never grew to handle. It's extremely common on new lots cut out of timber, and the first couple of seasons are the risky ones.
Yes, and it's a lot of what we do in Monroe County. The first things to settle are how wide you want it cleared and whether the fence is staying. Where trees have grown around the wire, that stretch takes the tree out and careful work to free the wire — buried wire ruins a chain instantly and can throw pieces.
There isn't an honest per-acre number, which is why we don't publish one. Two acres of open ground with scattered pines and half an acre of thick hardwood and privet are different jobs entirely. We walk it and give you a written price for the level of clearing you actually need.
Yes, 24 hours. Monroe County gets the same summer thunderstorm lines as the rest of Middle Georgia, and the wooded rural lots tend to produce the trees-across-the-driveway calls. Tell us what's down and what it's on.
